So I know I promised a weekly update but now the week is pretty much over and I never had the time to do one! lol
This weekend was so busy! On Friday my co-workers gave me a shower and then on Saturday my mom did. It was so nice!! I felt so loved
My Friday baby shower was more beautiful than I had imagined. My team went all out and transformed our work room into an elegant little tea room. All my friends stopped by and as they dropped off presents I opened them and we talked.
Some highlights: the punch was ah-mazing!, my team pitched in and got Eli his highchair, a dear friend bought me the sweetest book, and I loaded up on diapers. It was so sweet of my co-workers to think of Eli and I- we so appreciate their generosity.
Saturday was even more amazing! My mom picked this small catering company right around the corner from her house. It seems like nothing on the outside and I drove right past it on the way there because it?s so hidden. But inside it was beautiful! Reminded me of some place you might host a small-scale wedding.
I really can?t say enough about my shower that my mom threw. It was way above and beyond any expectations I could have had. The food was amazing- apricot brie, asparagus rolls, cucumber sandwiches, elegant desserts?
Everyone was dressed so nicely too! My mom, my sister and my meme stole the show with their stunning dresses!!
Then of course there were the presents. I didn?t realize how many there were until I sat down to open them. I think I spent an hour opening gifts? WOW! Eli is so loved!!
We took a ton of photos, ate too much food, and I have officially been showered! It took us from 4:00-10:00pm to unpack everything from the car, open everything up and find homes for all our new stuff (I have more crib sheets than anyone could ever need lol). I would say that we are pretty much set for Eli to get here.
After presents I had my sister read Welcome to Holland for everyone. I don?t know how she didn?t cry because I boo-hooed the whole time. lol But it was the most accurate way to let everyone know where we are at right now. So overjoyed to be having our miracle baby yet so apprehensive about what that means with his diagnosis. My family responded with: ?We can?t wait to go to Holland with you!? Aren?t they amazing? They have already boarded the plane, so to speak.
I want to say a HUGE thank you to all my family and friends! I am so so blessed and feel overwhelmed by your giving hearts! This child is loved unconditionally and I can?t wait to share him with all of you!
My drive home was very surreal! I felt so overwhelmed that I cried. Overwhelmed that this is really happening and that my life is about to change forever. Overwhelmed at the love my family and friends showed. Overwhelmed because this is all just so surreal?in a good way.
A few things that we still need:
-diaper bag (I also need to find a good list of what to take to the hospital)
-breast pump (oh joy)
-bottles
-changing table pad/cover
-mattress cover
-cosmetic stuff?
And now we are at Sunday. I woke up with fluid in my ears, a stuffed up nose and a puffy face. Awesome lol
I don?t know what on earth happened but I think I am sick?or getting sick. Again.
I think today will be dedicated to taking it a bit easier than yesterday. Who knew showers could be so much work?! I literally spent the whole morning cleaning the house and preparing for my shower?and then the whole day/evening picking up and putting stuff away. Impossible to avoid puffy feet that way!
When my photographer gets the pictures put together, I will happily share. Until then, enjoy these little teasers.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
