This week?s Friday Focus looks at some key reference sources on the topic of Ethics.

We have online access to some excellent handbooks published by Oxford University Press related to Ethics. These titles are part of the Oxford Handbooks in Philosophy collection.

Oxford Handbook of Business Ethics coverOxford Handbook of Business Ethics. This title was originally published in print in 2009 and was edited by Tom L. Beauchamp. It contains 24 chapters on a variety of topics such as:

  • The place of ethical theory in business ethics
  • Executive compensation:? unjust or just right?
  • Relativism, multiculturalism, and universal norms: their role in business ethics.
  • The moral problem of insider trading.Corruption and bribery.

Oxford Handbook of Practical EthicsOxford Handbook of Practical Ethics. This title was originally published in print in 2005 and was edited by Hugh LaFollette. It contains 28 chapters that span a variety of practical ethical issues related to our personal lives, moral status, equality, the just society, justice and international relations, and life and death. Some of the chapters that look relevant from a business perspective discuss topics such as: economic justice, privacy, corporate responsibility, and whistleblowing.
