Video Game Consoles - Computer Games - SSMB

It's just too damn hard to pick a favorite console. Do I go with the most nostalgic? The one I've spent the most time on? The one that I think has the best library of games, despite that I never actually owned it?

...How about all three! Posted Image

Most nostalgic: Nintendo 64. Terrible controller design aside, this thing had a fantastic library that kept me well entertained throughout my late childhood. I'll admit that a good chunk of these early 3D games have not aged well at all, but I think enough of the greater titles still hold up well enough that it's worth busting out the system now and again. Genesis is a close runner up in this category, held back only by the fact that I never really owned any of the major classics aside from Sonic 1 & 2.

Most played: Gotta hand it to the DS on this one. Not only does it have a giant, fantastic selection of games, its portability has let me bring them with me wherever I go. As such, yes, this must be my most played console.

Best library: SNES, even though I never had one. I loved my Genesis, but when I look back at the library's these systems had...I have to say, SNES seems to be the clear victor, even if I haven't played many of the more well known classics.

Honoarable mention: Gamecube. This thing got harped on a lot back in the day for being too "kiddy" and not having any real online gaming to speak of, but I think these complaints are unfair. It had a fantastic lineup of exclusives, largely due to Nintendo being in their fucking stride in this era. Smash Bros. Melee, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, and then the third party games like Viewtiful Joe, Tales of Symphonia, Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, Resident Evil 4 and OH MY GOD SO MANY GOOD GAMES!!!
