Google Maps Navigation: You've Arrived At Your Dest-O-Nation

A Google Maps Help thread has some complaints from Google Maps Navigation users that the accent or pronunciation Google uses for arriving at your destination sounds like "dest-o-nation" instead of "destination."

Edward, a Google Maps user, asked in the forum thread:

Is there an upcoming fix for the Google Maps Navigation app? After the last update, it says "and your 'destonation' will be on the right." Once you're close to the destination, it says "your destination is on the x" normally.

Though the mistake doesn't affect the function of the app, it bothers me that it's been out there so long.

Julia from New York City said that it depends on where you are. If you are in the north east, Google Maps will prononce it as destination, whereas if you are in some other locations, Google Maps may pronounce it as dest-o-nation. She wrote:

I live in the north east, where the Navigation pronounces "destination" correctly. I just came back from a 5 day stay in Atlanta Georgia and everywhere I went the Navigation said I was arriving at my dest-OH-nation. The southern navigation lady should have a nice twangy accent to go with that.
