Harshad Bhagwat trounces Abhishek Sadanand in final round of 2012 Amanora Cup
Men?s Singles campaigner Harshad Bhagwat of India made best out of his top forma and remained invincible in the final round of Amanora Cup on Sunday, December 30, 2012.
He thrashed a compatriot shuttler Abhishek Sadanand Kulkarni in this brief meeting which took place in local badminton complex of Pune.
Harshad, who was top seeded player in this tournament, employed all of his brilliance and experience in the game and sealed a splendid straight-set victory with 21-8 and 21-10 margin.
He played flawless badminton in both segments of the showdown and did not give his rival even a single counterattack opportunity.
On the other hand, Abhishek looked completely off colour as he could not capitalise his unbeatable run in this national tournament.
The battle heated up straight away in the beginning of first set when Harshad prevailed in couple of uninterrupted rallies and established an unassailable lead.
He did not drop this pace and doubled the lead in no time. This initial advantage helped him to keep the opposing shuttler under control.
Before the announcement of break, Harshad managed to pile up an indomitable figure of 11 and started second half of the set with a psychological edge.
He played with great control and placed his strokes so well that his challenger did not have a chance to retaliate.
He maintained a significant difference of 13 points and wrapped this segment of the showdown with an impressive result of 21-8.
The second set was also a dead contest as it proved a one-sided affair after the mid-game break. Men?s Singles expert Harshad struggled a bit in the beginning and his fluctuated performance allowed his opponent to proceed.
Abhishek played positive badminton and gathered some valuable points at steady pace. He was in strong position after couple of establishing rallies but then few back-to-back mistakes triggered the collapse.
At this stage, Harshad showed maturity in his craft and reinstated his authority. He finished first half of the set with a respectable margin and then carried this flow in latter part of the game.
The young Indian campaigner swept the table with 21-10 score and raised Men?s Singles trophy in 2012 Amanora Cup.
