North Ireland Protestant march begins peacefully
BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) ? A large Protestant march through the heart of Northern Ireland's capital began peacefully on Saturday amid a heavy security presence.
Thousands were participating in one of Belfast's biggest parades in years, and police deployed in force to prevent street clashes between marchers and Northern Ireland's Catholic minority.
Members of the various Protestant "loyal orders," so-called because they're loyal to Great Britain, trooped down Belfast's streets festooned with buttons, tassels, and other ceremonial gear, banging drums and playing music as walked the six-mile (nine-kilometer) route from the capital's City Hall to Stormont, the seat of Northern Ireland's parliament.
Parade-goers carried the orange collarette, a small V-shaped sash worn around the neck. Many also came in the stern-looking dark sunglasses, black bowler caps, and white gloves that have become synonymous with the marches.
At least two women chose a more relaxed uniform: Red-white-and-blue wigs and Union Jack dresses.
The loud and colorful marches date back to the 19th century and are a longstanding irritant between Northern Ireland's two main religious communities. The loyal orders see them as expressions of their culture and a testament to their faith. Many Catholics see them as aggressive and anti-Irish, and the marches can devolve into street fights, particularly when they pass through heavily Catholic area.
There were no immediate reports of any unrest, and marchers passed a potential flashpoint on the parade route ? St. Patrick's church near Belfast's city center ? without incident.
"They marched with dignity down the road," said Father Michael Sheehan, the administrator of St Patrick's. "I think a degree of respect was shown that hasn't been shown before."
Nearly every aspect of the marches ? from the parade route to the music played ? is argued over and litigated by both sides, and a specially-created Parades Commission has been created to mediate between the two. The commission can, for example, re-route a parade around a potential flashpoint or demand that sectarian songs not be sung in certain areas.
The marches are steeped in Northern Ireland's messy history, and Saturday's massive parade, which had been expected to draw up to 30,000 people, is no different. The march was due to finish at Stormont with a cultural festival held to commemorate a 1912 proclamation against plans for home rule in Ireland.

I used to like trying most phones but was very reluctant to try the Iphone as everyone else was on the bandwagon and I wanted to be different. Eventually I succumbed and bought one. I was using the Iphone in tandem with my HTC phone.
The HTC started staying in my room never to see the light of day.
The same thing happened when purchasing a tablet. The HP Touchpad was a good deal so I bought it. Found it really good. I then had a bit of money and bought an Ipad 2 Wi-fi 64gb. Guess what, the HP Touchpad was sold to a work colleague.
The Ipad is so much easier to use and the apps are what make it, similarly to the Iphone. The screen's sensitivitiy is second to none. I haven't experienced any slow down even when I have multiple apps open. The 9.2 inch screen is very clear and very bright. I purchased a matt screen protector that helped 90% in reducing the reflections off the screen.
The only downside is the camera on the Ipad 2 is not very good. Its very grainy and the pictures do give you a sense of 'oh if only'.
But apart from that, a lovely gadget that I use more than I use my laptop.
Summary: An excellent product that is recommended whole heartedly.

Sustainability: A Better Investment Than Stocks ? Climate Denial ...

We?ve actually known this for a long time. It?s actually cheaper and more profitable to do the right thing.

It is surprising just how big is the ?sustainability? opportunity is.
In just the energy efficiency (EE) field McKinsey & Company estimates that?$2 trillion can be invested in EE by 2020 with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 17 per cent.?To put that into perspective: that rate of return is better than investing in the stock market or in real estate over the long-term ? the two investments we?re always told give the best long-term returns.
The net effect would be equivalent to cutting the need for 64 million barrels of oil a day ? about one and a half times today?s entire U.S. consumption.
In a separate McKinsey study,??Reducing US greenhouse gas emissions: How much at what cost???shows that 40 per cent of the CO2 emissions reduction strategies are highly profitable. Jon Creyts, the US McKinsey partner in charge of the study, notes that if these profits were re-invested in the next least-cost solutions, the U.S. would achieve all of its Kyoto reductions at no cost to society!
It?s important to note that these two studies come from one of the pre-eminent management consulting firms worldwide ? so business leaders should pay attention.
Amory Lovins, the founder of the Rocky Mountain Institute, and one of the world?s leading energy efficiency experts, has documented how North American firms could cut their energy use by 70-90 per cent using existing, proven, practical technology ? all in a way that profitable.
Here?s another surprising one: if every roof worldwide was white, it would eliminate $2 trillion of carbon emissions. Black roofs are the industry standard. Because black surfaces retain the sun?s heat, on a hot32?C day a black roof will be 88?C while a white roof will be 43?C ? a staggering 45?C cooler.?And where do engineers put the air handling equipment? Yes, on the roof! So fresh air is being drawn in at 88?C and having to be cooled to a comfortable temperature. On installation there?s no difference in capital cost between a black and a white roof, and on resurfacing there is no cost difference. So imagine being able to save $2 trillion for free!
We could triple the efficiency of Ontario?s electric grid by using combined heat and power (CHP). Conventional power plants, whether coal, gas or nuclear vent two-thirds of the energy as waste heat. By contrast CHP ? also known as co-generation or district heat ? uses this ?waste? heat to heat buildings. This increases the efficiency up to 90 per cent. Denmark generates a staggering 54 per cent of it?s power from co-gen.

PJH Designs One of A Kind Vintage & Antique Furniture & Home ...
Hello everyone I hope you had a wonderful week. :-)
I'm feeling much better and have been working on several pieces including an antique pie safe I picked up at an auction recently.
Today I'm sharing a small table redo that I recently finished and carried to King's Antiques.
I'm not sure how you are going to take the finish I applied to this piece, but I enjoyed how the colors peeked through so much on the blanket chest I recently re-furbished I wanted to explore that look some more.?
This is what I started with a nice, vintage, solid?wood?table. ?I lightly sanded the piece just because I'm kind of weird and sometimes I just like to sand things! As I was using chalk paint it really wasn't necessary. I then thoroughly cleaned it.
Next I roughly painted the entire piece in patches with ASCP in Versailles Green, Greek Blue, and Duck Egg Blue. When that was thoroughly dry I applied a healthy coat of Old White.
My next step was to print the ballet fairy I found at The Graphic's Fairy onto tissue paper and transfer it to the center top of the table. ?On the sides of the table I used tissue paper flowers from a napkin, and on the bottom center roses from a napkin.When decoupaging tissue paper start by applying your decoupage medium to the area you want your image, and apply the image starting at the center and moving outward using a brush loaded with Mod Podge. Be sure to only use a couple of strokes in each area as the tissue will dissolve easily.
Once that was dry I took sandpaper and distressed the edges of the images to blend them to the piece better.
I then waxed the entire piece with clear paste wax and heavily distressed the entire piece. Then applied another coat of clear wax and lightly buffed.
I really liked how you could see all the colors showing through as if the piece had been painted time and again. ?You may even think that at one time there were more images on the top.?

You know what I like about what I do? If I paint something no one else likes I can always keep it myself! LOL Or if I have the time, and feel like it, I can sand it down and repaint it. It's all fun to me.

She fell in?love with music when she was just a little girl. Now all grown up at 22, Jessica Calamera, of Yorktown, is getting ready to make a splash into the music industry and make it big.?
The 2008?Lakeland High School graduate has been surrounded by music her whole life ? both of her parents are musicians and performers ? and music has always been prominent in every aspect of her everyday life.
"My parents have videos of me performing and writing songs as early as two years old so I guess I just kind of always knew this was what I was meant to do," Calamera said.?
The pop/country singer and songwriter will be filming and recording her first television concert special and debut album, titled "This Much Fun," completely live at the historic Winery at St. George in Mohegan Lake on Tuesday, Oct. 2, with a special show for the press and industry on Oct. 1.?
She will?lead a band of some of the country?s finest musicians through the recording and filming of 12 new songs.
The tracks on the album range from sassy rock and roll and blues, driving in your car sing-alongs to beautiful heartfelt ballads, she said.?
No stranger to the spotlight, Calamera's music has been featured in television and film and there are a few music?videos.?You can also hear some of her songs, by clicking here. She said she was excited to be filming her first concert special live, but she was not nervous because she feels she and her band are ready.
"I am so confident in the amazing band that we have put together, and I know they will give an incredible performance," Calamera said. "They are some of the finest musicians and people I have ever met and I feel so blessed to be sharing a stage with them. I just can?t wait for everyone to hear all of the new songs and see the show."
A few years ago, the woman was featured in her composer father?s own nationwide PBS television special, "Cal?Forever and Beyond." Calamera's heart wrenching ballad, ?Favorite Stranger,? which details a couple?s struggle with Alzheimer?s disease became a high point of the show.
"My dad has always been my number one fan and has been right beside me working every step of the way through all of the ups and downs I've experienced throughout my career so far," she said. "I really owe everything to him because of how much he has always believed in me and encouraged me to reach for the stars."
Calamera?writes all of her own music and songwriting has always been an outlet for her, she said.
"The inspiration for my songs comes from my real life," the musician said. "When people hear my music, they are hearing my diary. I have an interesting story to go along with each and every song I have ever written and I hope that people can relate and connect to the music and the things that I write about being that I?m sure they have gone through them too at some point."
Calamera said through her music she hopes to?make a difference in someone?s life through her own stories and life experiences, or even just simply bring a smile to someone's face on a rough day while they sing along to her songs.
The young woman's has always taken music seriously ? she began?taking piano lessons in elementary school, later learning the guitar and drums.?
But it wasn't a year and a half ago that she knew she had to make what she calls an important life decision ? she decided to pursue a solo career and leave the pop/rock band she had formed when she was just 14 years old.
"It was becoming clearer to me as I hit this crossroad in my life, coming near to the end of college and really being faced with the challenges of growing up, that I knew what I had to do," she said.
If she really wanted to make it, she had to go after her dreams.
"That is when I returned to my love of country music, wrote a whole batch of new songs in this genre?and started to form the incredible 13-piece band that will play beside me at my showcases at The Winery at Saint George on Oct. 1 and 2," Calamera said.
Tickets for the filming at the Winery are sold out, but Calamera and her band will be making their way around the New York area in a series of local concerts as the film and CD are prepared for their official release dates around the holidays.?
"My dreams and goals for my music career are to make a living touring, performing and doing what I love to do while making a difference in the lives of many," Calamera said.?
Calamera has a Bachelor's degree from Pace University in math and adolescent education, and she is currently working on her Master's in special education at Pace University.

Back in September 2010, we reported on a paper that suggested that ?men diagnosed with intraductal carcinoma of the prostate on needle biopsy should receive definitive therapy for locally advanced disease, even in the absence of pathologically documented invasive prostate cancer.?
A recently published review in the journal Prostate (by Bonkhoff et al.) now suggests that there is?still a lack of appreciation that intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDCP) ?represents a clinically aggressive disease that continues to be misreported under the diagnostic category of high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia? (HG-PIN).
According to Bonkhoff et al., data from recent histological, molecular, and clinical studies?show that IDCP differs significantly from HG-PIN, and that these differences?have major impact in terms of diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of this subtype of prostate cancer. Specifically, they go on to note that?IDCP is associated with greater application of neoadjuvant androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), failure of?chemotherapy, and early disease recurrence after external beam radiation.?They also point out that?IDCP is associated with the presence of TMPRSS2-ERG gene fusion, which?has been?reported to be regulated by estrogens and their receptors.
The authors argue that IDCP ?is an aggressive phenotype of prostate cancer? and that it should be clearly differentiated from?HG-PIN and?carefully reported in pathologic reports on prostate biopsy and prostatectomy specimens.

Facebook launches service to send real-life gifts
NEW YORK (AP) ? Facebook is rolling out a service called Gifts which, as its name suggests, lets users send chocolate, coffee, socks and other real-life presents to one another.
Facebook Gifts launched Thursday to a subset of users in the U.S. and will roll out to more over the coming months as people begin to send gifts to each other.
Users will be able to click on a "gifts" icon on their Facebook friends' pages on Facebook's website or on Android mobile phones. (IPhone and iPad versions are coming soon.)
The icon will also show up on the right side of users' Facebook pages with the notifications for friends' birthdays, weddings and other life events. For example, if your friend's birthday is coming up in two days, you'll now see a "give her a gift" link and the gift icon next to her name and photo.
Clicking the icon will display presents you can buy, such as a Starbucks gift card, cupcakes or a teddy bear.
The recipient will be notified through Facebook to enter a shipping address for the presents. In some cases, they'll be able to select their own cupcake flavors or size and style of socks. They can also exchange gifts for other items if they don't like chocolate or don't wear socks.
The move represents Facebook Inc.'s first real foray into e-commerce. The company will take an unspecified cut from each item sold. On Thursday, possible gifts included gourmet ice cream, Andy Warhol prints, flowers, organic dog toys and spa packages.
Facebook Gifts is the result of Facebook's acquisition of Karma, a 16-person startup based in San Francisco. Facebook bought the company on May 18, the day of its rocky initial public offering. Karma's mobile app let people send gifts to their friends on the go. Facebook Gifts, of course, works both on computers and mobile devices.

Iran pushes ahead in building nuclear reactor
VIENNA (Reuters) - Iran appears to be making headway in building a research reactor that could yield potential nuclear weapon material, adding to Western concerns about Tehran's atomic aims, experts and diplomats say.
The West's worries about Iran are focused largely on underground uranium enrichment plants at Natanz and Fordow, but it is also pressing ahead with construction of a heavy-water reactor near the town of Arak, which analysts say could produce plutonium for nuclear arms if the spent fuel is reprocessed.
Iran now plans to bring Arak on line in the third quarter of 2013, moving up its timetable from 2014, according to the latest U.N. information, although there is uncertainty whether it will be able to meet that target date.
Iran, rejecting Western allegations it seeks to develop a capability to assemble atomic arms, says its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and that the reactor will produce isotopes for medical and agricultural use.
"There is no reason to seriously doubt Iran's resolve to complete this project on time and begin operating the reactor," said Mark Hibbs of the Carnegie Endowment think-tank.
Most of what is needed is "dual-use, off-the-shelf equipment that Iran can buy all over the world using the procurement network it has set up" for its nuclear program, he said.
A U.N. report last month on Iran's nuclear program, which made headlines because it showed a doubling of the uranium enrichment capability at Fordow, suggested Tehran was also carrying out new work at Arak.
The report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said cooling and moderator circuit piping was being installed when inspectors visited the Arak facility in early August.
"They are certainly continuing to make progress on the reactor," one Vienna-based diplomat said. "As long as we still don't trust Iran's nuclear intentions, even the elimination of its enrichment capability will not eliminate all the danger."
THREATS
Israel, believed to be the Middle East's only nuclear-armed state, sees Iran's nuclear program as a serious threat and has ramped up threats of attacking its arch enemy. If it does, the nuclear sites at Natanz, Fordow and Arak in central Iran are likely to be among the targets.
U.S. President Barack Obama this week warned Iran he would do what it takes to prevent it from getting nuclear weapons.
The European Union this month said it was "deeply worried" Iran had not suspended activity at the Arak facility, which like other nuclear sites is monitored by U.N. inspectors to ensure there is no diversion of nuclear materials.
In August, German prosecutors said police had arrested four men suspected of delivering valves for the heavy-water reactor, breaking an embargo on such exports to Iran.
If operated optimally, the heavy-water plant would produce about 9 kilograms of plutonium annually, or enough for about two nuclear bombs each year, said the Institute for Science and International Security, a U.S.-based think-tank.
"Before it could use any of the plutonium in a nuclear weapon, however, it would first have to separate the plutonium from the irradiated fuel," it added on its web site.
Iran has announced it has no plans to reprocess the spent fuel, the International Institute for Strategic Studies think-tank said in report last year.
But Mark Fitzpatrick, director of its non-proliferation and disarmament program, said "similarly sized reactors ostensibly built for research" have been used by India, Israel, North Korea and Pakistan to make plutonium for weapons.
Given Iran's "record of delays with other major nuclear facilities and the sanctions and export controls that have impeded access to foreign parts, it is very doubtful that the 2013 deadline will be met", he said.

NEW YORK (AP) ? Anne Hathaway is ready to show off another side ? her singing side.
The Academy Award nominee will perform songs from the musical "Cabaret" for a one-night-only concert Oct. 24 to celebrate the revitalization of The Public Theatre's downtown home.
The Public says Hathaway will croon several of the iconic musical's songs, including "Willkommen," ''Cabaret," ''Maybe This Time" and "Perfectly Marvelous" at Joe's Pub.
Tickets range from $100 to $300 and include food and drinks.
Hathaway, who starred in the Public's Shakespeare in the Park production of "Twelfth Night" in 2009, recently starred as Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises" and recently wrapped "Les Miserables" opposite Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.
Her other film credits include "Rachel Getting Married," ''Love and Other Drugs" and "The Princess Diaries."

Researchers determine how inflammatory cells function, setting stage for future remedies
ScienceDaily (Sep. 26, 2012) ? A research team led by investigators at New York University and NYU School of Medicine has determined how cells that cause inflammatory ailments, such as Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, and arthritis, differentiate from stem cells and ultimately affect the clinical outcome of these diseases.
"We've found that hundreds of new genes are involved in the function and development of these cells," said co-author Richard Bonneau, an associate professor at New York University's Center for Genomics and Systems Biology and the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. "This expansion in our understanding can be used as a framework for designing new therapies to combat a range of ailments where the immune system attacks self."
These cells, called T-cells by immunologists, play a role in fighting off infection, but can also induce inflammation and other processes that damage tissues and contribute to several common inflammatory diseases. T-cells are also key cell types in new immune-cell based therapies for fighting cancer. There are many types of T-cells, and how they differentiate from stem cells in the human body lies at the center of understanding several diseases.
"We have been striving for several years to understand what makes inflammatory T-lymphocytes special," said lead investigator Dan Littman, MD, PhD, the Helen L. and Martin S. Kimmel Professor of Molecular Immunology and a professor of pathology, microbiology and molecular pathogenesis at NYU School of Medicine and a faculty member of the Skirball Institute on Biomolecular Medicine. "They can protect us from microbes, but they also have the potential to cause autoimmune disease.
"We were fortunate to be able to bring together a team of immunologists, computational biologists, and genomics experts to begin to solve this puzzle. Whereas before we only knew of a handful of genes that influence the function of these cells, we now know of hundreds of new ones that can serve as a resource for further studies by us and other laboratories. Our hope is that some of these new molecules will be the Achilles heel that we can target to treat these diseases."
The findings, which are reported in the latest issue of the journal Cell, lay the groundwork for understanding how these cells regulate their genomes through a regulatory network that connects many environmental stimuli to a large number of genes and their interactions. This large network model is essentially the brain that T-cell precursors, or stem cells, use to decide what they want to be when they grow up. Specifically, a network model can be used simulate what inhibiting a gene with a drug would do to different T-cells and, in this way, aid the development of new therapeutic measures to address these afflictions.
The study focused on T-helper 17 cells (Th17) and how they regulate the synthesis of gene products from thousands of regions of the chromosome. Th17 cells have previously been implicated in inflammatory diseases. Other studies have also identified hundreds of genes that roles in pro-inflammatory diseases. This new study places these implicated genes on a timeline of cellular development and ultimately puts them together in an integrated model of how genes interact.
To explore the inner workings of these cells, the researchers used a systems biology approach, which focuses measuring multiple biomolecules and capturing multiple interactions within an organism to understand how it functions. For example, each of the 450 data sets integrated in this study contained measurements of gene expression, chromatin structure, or gene-chromosome interaction that spanned millions of locations along the genome. This holistic method offers a broader understanding of interconnected molecular phenomena essential to running life's program -- a process similar to studying an entire automobile while it functions rather than separately studying the headlights, brakes, or steering column.
To extract meaningful results from this very large data set, the researchers employed statistical techniques to uncover the network model from the large amount of data. To verify the accuracy of the computer modeling, further laboratory experiments were conducted using mice. Although the study was carried out in mice, the researchers found that their work could offer explanations as to why a large number of genes are associated with several human inflammatory diseases. The researchers' computer models identified candidate genes that influence the expression of more than 2,000 genes and play a significant role in the regulation of Th17 cells. They found that the core of this network was significantly enriched for the genes that human geneticists have found to be associated with pro-inflammatory disease. These genes serve as cogs in the regulation of expression or suppression of genes in Th17 cells and are potential leads for developing new therapeutic approaches to modulating inflammation.

Analysis - Japan, China military conflict seen unlikely despite islets row

TOKYO (Reuters) - Hawkish Chinese commentators have urged Beijing to prepare for military conflict with Japan as tensions mount over disputed islands in the East China Sea, but most experts say chances the Asian rivals will decide to go to war are slim.
A bigger risk is the possibility that an unintended maritime clash results in deaths and boosts pressure for retaliation, but even then Tokyo and Beijing are expected to seek to manage the row before it becomes a full-blown military confrontation.
"That's the real risk - a maritime incident leading to a loss of life. If a Japanese or Chinese were killed, there would be a huge outpouring of nationalist sentiment," said Linda Jakobson, director of the East Asia Program at the Lowy Institute for International Policy in Sydney.
"But I still cannot seriously imagine it would lead to an attack on the other country. I do think rational minds would prevail," she said, adding economic retaliation was more likely.
A feud over the lonely islets in the East China Sea flared this month after Japan's government bought three of the islands from a private owner, triggering violent protests in China and threatening business between Asia's two biggest economies.
Adding to the tensions, China sent more than 10 government patrol vessels to waters near the islands, known as the Diaoyu in China and the Senkaku in Japan, while Japan beefed up its Coast Guard patrols. Chinese media said 1,000 fishing boats have set sail for the area, although none has been sighted close by.
Despite the diplomatic standoff and rising nationalist sentiment in China especially, experts agree neither Beijing nor Tokyo would intentionally escalate to a military confrontation what is already the worst crisis in bilateral ties in decades.
U.S. PRESSURE
"The chances of a military conflict are very, very slim because neither side wants to go down that path," said former People's Liberation Army officer, Xu Guangyu, now a senior consultant at a government-run think tank in Beijing.
Pressure from the United States, which repeated last week that the disputed isles were covered by a 1960 treaty obliging Washington to come to Japan's aid if it were attacked, is also working to restrain both sides, security experts said.
"I very seriously do not think any of the involved parties - Japan, China and including the United States because of its defence treaty (with Japan) - want to see a military conflict over this dispute," said the Lowy Institute's Jakobson.
"They don't want to risk it, they don't seek it and they do not intend to let it happen."
Still, the possibility of a clash at sea remains.
While the presence of the Chinese surveillance ships - none of which is a naval vessel - and Japan Coast Guard ships in the area might appear to set the stage for trouble, military experts said each side would try to steer clear of the other.
"The bad news is that China sent ships to the area. The good news is that they are official ships controlled by the government," said Narushige Michishita at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo.
"This is good news because they are not likely to engage in aggressive action because that would really exacerbate the situation and turn it into a major crisis," said Michishita.
The Chinese ships, he said, had another mission besides asserting China's claims to the islands and nearby waters.
"My guess is that some (Chinese) official patrol boats are there to watch out for fishing boats ... to stop them from making problems," Michishita said.
FISHING BOATS WILD CARD
Military specialists say the Chinese patrol vessels are well disciplined as are the Japan Coast Guard ships, while the two sides have grown accustomed to communicating.
"Both sides are ready, but both sides are very well under control," said a former senior Japanese military official.
What worries observers most is the risk that a boat carrying Chinese fishermen slips through or activists try to land, sparking clashes with Japan's Coast Guard that result in deaths - news of which would spread like wildfire on the Internet.
In 1996, a Hong Kong activist drowned in the nearby waters.
Diplomatic and economic relations chilled sharply in 2010 after Japan arrested a Chinese trawler captain whose boat collided with a Japan Coast Guard vessel. This time, tensions are already high and China is contending with a tricky once-in-a-decade leadership change while Japan's ruling party faces a probable drubbing in an election expected in months.
"Two rational governments of major countries would not intentionally decide to enter into a major war with each other over a few uninhabited rocks," said Denny Roy, an Asia security expert at the East-West Centre in Hawaii.
"But unfortunately, you can arrive at war in ways other than that - through unintended escalation, in which both countries start out at a much lower level, but each of them think that they must respond to perceived provocation by the other side, both very strongly pushed into it by domestic pressure. That seems to be where we are now and it is difficult to see how countries can get out of that negative spiral."
Others, however, were more confident that an unplanned clash could be kept from escalating into military conflict.
"That's not really a major possibility, because there are still broad channels of communication between the two sides, and they would help prevent that happening. Both sides could still talk to each other," said former senior PLA officer Xu.
"Even before anything happened, you would also have the U.N Secretary General and others stepping in to ensure that the situation does not get out of control."
