Italy Bus Accident: At Least 24 Dead After Bus Plunges Into Ravine
ROME ? Rescuers wielding electric saws cut through the twisted wreckage of an Italian tour bus for survivors of a crash in southern Italy that killed at least 37 people after it crashed into traffic and plunged into a ravine on Sunday night.
Reports said as many as 49 people ? mostly Italians ? had been aboard the bus when it ripped through a guardrail, then plunged some 30 meters (100 feet) off a viaduct near a wooded area. In its plunge, the bus tore away whole sections of concrete barriers as well as guardrail. The concrete lay in large chunks in a clearing in a wooded area where the bus landed. State radio quoted Avellino police as saying the bus driver was among the dead.
The bus lost control near the town of Monteforte Irpino in Irpinia, a largely agricultural area about 40 miles (60 kilometers) inland from Naples and about 250 kilometers (160 miles) south of Rome.
The radio report said 11 people were hospitalized with injuries, two of them in critical condition. It was not immediately known if there were other survivors or any missing.
Flashing signs near Avellino, outside Naples, had warned of slowed traffic ahead along a stretch of a major highway crossing southern Italy, before the crash occurred, said highway police and officials, speaking on state radio early Monday.
It was not immediately clear why the bus driver lost control of the vehicle.
A reporter for Naples daily Il Mattino, Giuseppe Crimaldi, told Sky TG24 TV from the scene that some witnesses told him the bus had been going at a "normal" speed on the downhill stretch of the highway when it suddenly veered and started hitting cars. He said some witnesses thought they heard a noise as if the bus had blown a tire.
Hours after the crash, firefighters said that they had extracted 37 bodies ? most of the dead were found inside the mangled bus, which lay on its side , while a few of the victims were pulled out from underneath the wreckage, state radio and the Italian news agency ANSA reported.
Occupants of cars which were hit by the bus stood on the highway near their vehicles. One car's rear was completely crumpled, while another was smashed on its side. It was not immediately known if anyone in those cars had been injured.
Early reports said the passengers had spent the day in Puglia, an area near the Adriatic on the east coast famed for religious shrines. But on Monday, a state radio reporter at the scene said authorities told him that the bus had been bringing the passengers home after an outing to a thermal spa area near Benevento, a town not far from Avellino. Others at the scene said the passengers might have visited another nearby town, Benevento, which was the early home of Padre Pio, a late mystic monk popular among Catholics in Italy.
Passengers came from small towns near Naples, and relatives streamed to the crash site.

The Staycation in Park Royal Penang
When you mentioned Park Royal Penang in Batu Ferringhi, many will tell you stories on the history of the hotel. While many locals still live in the past, the hotel has move on. In fact, the hotel has gone through a revamp with a huge renovation on their hotel rooms. The legacy remains with new directions.
Penang has changed for good in the past few years. More places for good food and more hotels are opening on the island. To drive from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, it should take less than five hours drive (without speeding) with leisure speed and it will take an hour for a plane ride. We chose to drive because we wanted to travel freely on the island.
It didn?t take us long to reach Park Royal Hotel. Even though the exterior looks the same but the interior is a world of its own. I always feel that hotel services in Malaysia fares poorer compare to our neighbours but in Park Royal Penang they proved me wrong. Doormen and front desk staffs were helpful and friendly.
We got ourselves a beautiful seaview room. I love how the newly renovated hotel rooms. It looks like new!

The swimming pools in Park Royal Penang must be mentioned. They have two swimming pools, one for the adults and one for the children.
If you are bringing your kids for a staycation in Park Royal, they will love the children?s pool. It is like mini water theme park but it is always advisable parents or guardians should be around when the kids are playing in the pool
If you are a beach person, just walk a few steps and you will be greeted by the beautiful Batu Ferrighi white sandy beach. Facing the Strait of Malacca, there are varieties of sports activities available.
Having a brisk walk or even a jog at this beautiful beach during morning or evening is relaxing. Usually the sea water here is not that rough so swimming in the sea is consider safe. Jelly fish attacks are rare in Penang.
If you don?t want to soak into the sea water, you can always sun bathing at the benches available exclusive for hotel guests.
Breakfast in Parkroyal Penang was not disappointing as well. I thought it will be the same old typical ?Malaysia hotel breakfast? and I was wrong. They have local Penang food like char kuey teow and nasi lemak for breakfast.
I stayed two nights in Parkroyal Penang and it was blissful. Due to Rachel?s pregnancy, we stayed in the hotel most of the time and we didn?t even make time for the Batu Ferringhi night market. Please don?t be fooled by the exterior and the history of the hotel as the rooms were renovated and rejuvenated. If you are planning to visit Penang for a staycation, ParkRoyal Penang Batu Ferringhi is an option for you.

India to resume talks with Pakistan on water, Sir Creek: Sources
New Delhi: India has agreed to resume talks with Pakistan on water and Sir Creek, after Islamabad proposed dates last week. Sources say India has agreed in principle and the dates are now being worked out.
In January this year, the talks between the Water Secretaries of the two countries were put off following a string of clashes along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir that left two Indian soldiers dead and their bodies mutilated.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif are also expected to meet in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in the last week of September.
India started work on Tulbul project at the Wullar lake in Jammu and Kashmir in 1985 to make the Jhelum river navigable in summer. The project was stopped after Pakistan said it violated the Indus Water Treaty of 1960.
Pakistan claimed the project could be used by India to control the flow of the Jhelum, a charge denied by New Delhi.
Sir Creek, another contentious issue between the two neighbours, is an area that runs along Gujarat's border with Pakistan in the Kutch region. The area is believed to be rich in oil and gas, and has a large fishing ground.
Narendra Modi, during the last Gujarat elections, had accused the Centre of acquiescing to Pakistan on the Sir Creek issue, an allegation the Prime Minister's Office soon denied.
