They?re back! The North Carolina Symphony welcomes self-described ?classically trained garage band? Time for Three to the Triangle to close out the 2011 edition of the Rex Healthcare Summerfest Series. The concert takes place at Koka Booth Amphitheatre on Saturday, July 16, at 7:30 p.m. Children 12 and under are free.
Led by Resident Conductor William Henry Curry, the performance showcases the category-shattering trio?s unique blend of jazz, blues, country and bluegrass, including the group?s original takes on favorites like ?Shenandoah,? ?Orange Blossom Special? and Leonard Cohen?s ?Hallelujah.?
?We sort of rock out up there; we?re pretty loose,? Time for Three bassist Ranaan Meyer told the Wall Street Journal in 2009. ?Based on the instruments that we?re playing, people aren?t used to that.?
Time for Three gained instant attention when founding members Meyer and violin Zachary De Pue provided an impromptu jam session while workers fixed a power outage during a Philadelphia Orchestra concert in July 2003. Joined by violin Nicolas Kendall, Time for Three has developed a dedicated following through their limitless enthusiasm and wide-ranging sound.
To date, the group has performed more than two hundred engagements as diverse as its music, from featured guest soloists with the Philadelphia Orchestra to opening for k.d. lang at Philadelphia?s Kimmel Center. They wowed Raleigh crowds during the North Carolina Symphony?s New Year?s Eve concert in 2008.
?Some might not categorize it as classical, with its broad elements of jazz, country, bluegrass, zydeco and Latin dance forms, but these performances should appeal to every taste because of their intensity and precision,? wrote the Raleigh News & Observer?s Roy C. Dicks last year in a review of the band?s most recent CD. Several tracks from the album will be performed live on July 16.
The evening and the Rex Healthcare Summerfest Series will be capped with a spectacular fireworks finale.

Jilldays, a quick glance at your Q&A suggests to me that you?re young, possibly school age ? forgive me if I?m wrong.
I don?t know why you?re asking this question, but you need to know that the chances of breast cancer in a teenager are close to zero. It?s mainly a disease of ageing ? 80% of those diagnosed are over 50 (the average age for diagnosis is 60) and only around 5% are under 40.
Fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with breast cancer are under 30, and it?s almost unheard of in under 20s.
The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women begin breast self-examination at the age of 20.
At the age I?m assuming you are, your breasts are still growing and developing; every day on this board there are questions from teenage girls who are terrified they have breast cancer because of perfectly normal hormonal changes.
Of course it may be that you are asking on behalf of someone older; early breast cancer usually has no symptoms at all. Symptoms of possible breast cancer are:
change in size ? one breast may have become noticeably larger or lower

Retail chiefs gather to discuss food deserts with Chicago mayor
CHICAGO ? The Windy City?s problem with food deserts is getting attention from the city?s mayor and some of the country?s top retailers, according to published reports.
ABC reported Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel held a summit with CEOs from Walgreens, Walmart, Aldi, Roundy?s and the companies that operate the Jewel and Dominick's chains. During the summit, Emanuel offered incentives for the companies to build stores in the food deserts, which are low-income neighborhoods that lack large supermarkets, thus making residents unable to obtain fresh fruits and vegetables.
Walgreens already has built several stores in Chicago that offer expanded fresh food options as a way of addressing the food desert problem, including at least one store that has 40% of its retail space dedicated to food. Walmart also has built Walmart Express stores in Chicago food-desert neighborhoods, including West Englewood.
What's more, Walgreens also has sought to expand its fresh-food store concept. CEO Greg Wasson said at a shareholders meeting earlier this year that the company may expand its fresh food centers to 400 or more stores over the next several years, and the company announced in May that it would test-market stores with healthy food options at 30 locations in San Francisco.
